As a statutory body the 7 Community Health Councils in Wales should be notified by the NHS of all planned or urgent services changes.
Regional Service Changes - service changes that span multiple NHS areas and affect 2 or more Health Board areas. Such as specialised services.
Local Service Changes – service changes within the Cardiff & Vale University Health Board area. Such as GP Practices.
Our involvement in these change proposals are to ensure that the public and patients’ views are at the heart of the changes on a local and regional level and that the impact on the service user will be as positive as possible.
Community Health Council decisions to support or reject change proposals are made in our Service Planning and Executive Committees, which are open to the public to support transparency and meet our all-Wales CHC National Standards.
Where necessary, the Community Health Council ensures that the Welsh Government framework for public engagement and consultation is followed.
